Navigating through the process of getting new dentures can bring up many questions. We've compiled a list of our most frequently asked questions to help guide you towards a comfortable and confident experience with your denture care.

How do I care for my dentures?

Remove at night or take out daily for a few hours to allow your gum tissues to rest. We provide a container to store it in. Use a soft bristle tooth brush to clean daily with non-abrasive cleaner. We suggest a drop of dishwashing liquid. Rinse well.

How long do dentures last?

With proper care, dentures can last approximately 5-10 years depending on the type of Denture.

Do you fabricate implant retianed dentures?

Absolutely! We have over 800 implant patients and can refer you to see an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist. Loose dentures can be remedied with the addition of dental implants placed by a dental surgeon. Dentures over implants provide stability, increased chewing force, reduced tissue irritations, and decreased bone loss.

What if I am not mobile but need denture care?

Our denturist will come to you! We can arrange to see you in the comfort of your home or in your care home to ensure the best possible service.

I have a sore spot what should I do?

Sore spots can be common right after a new denture while your mouth gets use to the new appliance. Take some breaks from wearing them. If the sore spots don't improve with gradual wear, please call our office and we can fix it, it's complementary.

I just got my dentures what can I eat?

We suggest soft foods like eggs, yogurt, fish, pasta or rice until your mouth and gums get use to the Denture. Avoid hard or sticky foods like nuts. Gradually introduce textured foods like soft vegetables and fruits.

My denture broke, do you offer repairs?

Yes, we are able to offer same day repair service, in most cases. We can assess your dentures for cracks, chips, and overall condition. The denturist will advise you regarding a course of action to remedy the situation.

Do I need a referral?

A referral isn't necessary to see our denturist. Walk-in any time or contact us to book your complementary consultation.

Should I go see my dentist first?

If you are experiencing any issues with your natural teeth and have a dentist we suggest a visit to them first but it's not necessary. We work closely with your Dentist and coordinate treatment plans.

How much are adjustments?

Our adjustments are always complementary!

How long does it take to make a set of dentures?

While every case is truly unique, uncomplicated cases generally take two and a half to four weeks. Complete dentures take less time to make then Partial dentures.

What if I need full mouth extractions?

When complete extractions of your remaining teeth become unavoidable, an immediate denture is a solution. This process will help you avoid the embarrassment of being without teeth. Your denturist will initiate this procedure before your teeth are extracted. An impression is made of your existing teeth and gums prior to the extraction surgery and is used as working models for the construction of your new dentures. From your models the denturist is able to copy and construct a denture, duplicating your original teeth with improvements to your appearance, if you so wish. At your extraction appointment, your immediate dentures are inserted avoiding the embarrassment of having no teeth during your healing period. During the healing process temporary liners will be placed every month to two months. At the end of this process, usually 8 months later your Denture will be rebased and this completes the process.

Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Yes, we do accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan! This works like other Dental Insurance Plans. Coverage is under a co-payment system based on family income. Percentage of coverage ranges from 40% to 100% *based on established CDCP fees. The co-payment is the portion of the CDCP fee that the patient must pay directly to the dental provider. Application is made directly though "My Service Canada Account". Once you receive the card in the mail book your appointment with us! Any proposed work will be pre-approved prior to start.
